  • Overall, I was pretty happy with my rental experience. It went smoothly and I really liked the car I ended up with. I booked on hotwire.com but didn't ended up with one of those insanely low rates. Probably for the best, because I ended up really enjoying the better car for our drives to Sedona and around the Phoenix area. Check in was a breeze -- we were lucky; my husband and I got into line right as the crowd arrived and didn't have to wait too long. I'm afraid those behind us weren't so lucky. Rental agent was sweet, even though she tried upselling us because I mentioned we were in town for a special occasion. Still, we enjoyed bantering with her and left pretty happy with the experience. Only confusing part was that the car that was waiting for us was in the wrong bay. We had to do a double take but after that, it was smooth sailing. Bringing the car back was also easy. The girl who checked it in was brief but nice. Only gripe is that we had to wait a while for a shuttle back to the airport...not Hertz's fault but annoying nonetheless.
