| - Pros: nice front-desk staff, free parking, price, and location. Cons: dated property, street noise, and safety. My company booked me for the Digital Summit at the convention center a little late, and the conference and nearby hotels were sold out. Knowing this was a budget hotel, I chose it over the Super 8, which did not sound great from its reviews.
I encountered two different people at check-in and check-out and they were both friendly and service-oriented. I also neglected to get a receipt to expense my biz stay at checkout, so I emailed them and they responded promptly with a copy.
The room was just okay. For the most part, it was clean, but the property is dated. My TV would turn off and restart randomly, and the alarm clock made a static noise when it was not on. The walls and ironing board were stained, there was no plug in the bathtub, and the top sheet on the bed was ripped. I found it odd there were only sheets on the bed and no comforter or quilt. There was a scratchy older blanket on top of the clothing rack. The shower was nice; water was hot and good pressure. I was a little grossed out upon drying off with a fresh towel and finding a couple long, dark hairs that weren't mine stuck to my body. That leads me to believe the towels were possibly not clean, but I'm sure that happens at a lot of hotels. I prefer to not think about that and remain blissfully ignorant.
TripAdvisor reviews mentioned a loud A/C unit; mine was definitely loud, but I was tired every night and it didn't wake me up. I slept pretty well despite the noise from the street. That is more so a reflection on the area than the hotel. I mostly left my car parked and walked to the convention center and nearby restaurants, which was nice. I felt reasonably safe staying there by myself, but there are homeless people sleeping on the street nearby and some rough-looking folk wandering around. No one really bothered me, other than a cat-call type of comment here and there, which I ignored. I didn't spend much time after dark out on my own and took an Uber a couple of times.
