As a medical professional myself, I have a high standard for medical care. But I've become frustrated with the responsiveness of the medical staff.
My first visit went well. The front desk checked me in without any problems, and the physicians and other medical professionals were attentive and I was pleased with the level of service I received initially.
The issue came in when I attempted to speak with a nurse practitioner or physician over the phone about issues that I was having which I determined to be time sensitive based upon the conversation I had with my doctor. I called the night before and left a message stating that I would like to speak with someone as well as schedule an appointment. I did get a hold of someone who had the authority to schedule an appointment, made said appointment and was told that someone would get back to me. I hadn't heard from anyone the next day by mid afternoon so I called again. I was told the same thing, that someone would get back to me. Unfortunately, no one had and the next time I called the office was close and wouldn't be open over the weekend.
Because my issue was not deemed a life threatening emergency I would have to wait over the weekend just to speak with someone.
My frustration lies in the ability of the staff to get back to me and answer my questions regarding my care in a timely manner. The point of speaking with someone was to look at options regarding my issue. I wasn't eager to pursue a more aggressive treatment and would much rather treat my condition with something less invasive.
I'm actually very patient overall and extend a lot of grace to medical practitioners because of the high volume of patients that they typically have to see. However, I get frustrated when they make claims to get back to me and fail to do so.
