| - Only dealing I had with this horrible company was when some goons started opening accounts in Texas under my name. Somehow this buffoonic company gave some idiot $20,000 worth of stuff. Nightmare to go thru their "theft specialists" to clear things up. Wonder if they even looked at the ethnicity of the buyer and the ID they are using. Pity to see that they came to Vegas with their cheap products. More like "Cons". Cater to lower price clientele and then try to hook them with easy credit and outrageous financing rates no doubt.
BTW, no one from their "theft" specialist section ever responds to emails or voice messages. Good luck dealing with them in world renowned Beaumont, wherever that's at. Word of advice, get your police report ASAP, contact the state attorney generals office to get an ID, and file a FTC ID theft report. Save your utility bills in PDF. Then these goons can harass you all they want. In my case, these bozos contacted me for money months later after I moved to a new address. Trying to get utility statements after you closed the account and moved to a new address is not possible. You have to use bank statements after that. And they are not happy with 1, you need 2. So if you try to be simple and keep one bank account, you are half screwed although no one would side with them regardless.
Most of the time they prey on the victims (Conns wasn't the only one, AT&T will hire buffoons who will try to make you jump thru tons of hoops and bluff you with their "enforcement" experienced personnel). The company will tell you need to jump through hoops to clear yourself now that they lost money and know they can't retrieve it from the culprits. So they go after the victim instead. Not the case. Local police, FTC, and one statement is all you need. All the credit bureaus want is a police report pretty much. These companies should reimburse victims for postage and time spent mailing them materials because of THEIR lax policies.
The sad truth is once your ID is stolen, you are on your own to reclaim it. The smart thieves will even be able to steal your identity from Transunion. Yes, they managed that too. Not that hard to convince those ppl who you are either since they don't ask for drivers license and call your state to verify. There's a reason they have no access to DMV computers. They are NOT an enforcement agency.
Lastly, don't just file a 6 month security freeze. These thieves will wait it out. Do the inconvenient 7 yr freeze. It's the only way. Even then be prepared to freeze it again once it expires.
