| - Cute brunch spot, but quite underwhelming. The food certainly wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The benedict was a very small portion, and my friend who had it finished his food well before the rest of us, leaving him dissatisfied. What stuck out at HEXX, though, was the service. Our waiter, Sean, who asked us to mention him specifically if we left a review, constantly tried to upsell everything we ordered, persistently trying to persuade us to order more when we'd already declined. He failed to tell us that upgrading the potatoes with "onions, mushrooms, or peppers" would cost an additional $2 PER topping. So the $6 upcharge on our bill came as a surprise. Sean also kept referring to Patrick, the person refilling our waters, as his "assistant," which seemed pretty demeaning and self-important, even if it was true. Amidst his constant upselling, Sean also made strange comments that came across as faux-charisma: for instance, we asked for salt and pepper, to which Sean replied "upon request"... The atmosphere and decor of the place is cute and "aesthetic-y," which I'm normally a big sucker for, but in this case it felt like a pretty face with a bland personality. The seats were uncomfortable to boot. Overall, it was a fine brunch, but ultimately we wouldn't go back.
