| - I've stayed in quite a few Marriotts, and this one is horribly outdated. The brass fixtures and faded red carpeting 'welcome' you inside the lobby. Though the rooms were better updated, they still felt 10yrs too old. For example, the bathroom caulking was chipping away. The marble tile in the bath had a natural pinkish color that just looked rusted. I also hated how the toliet faced the bathroom door and was 15 degrees off center. I did like the windows with their semi-circular shape. The mattress was firm and comfortable, and as always, housekeeping was good. However, wifi was not.
We tried the buffet breakfast on Sunday and it was good. Tons of options (standard scrambled eggs, omelette, sausage, bacon) and plenty of fresh fruits to accompany yogurt/oatmeal/breads/bagels.
Aside from that, the location is fantastic (the metro connects directly to the bldg, and a Bixi station is 1 block away). It was easy access to other neighborhoods (Old City/waterfront, Chinatown, Latin Quarter, the Village, La Plateau, Mt. Royal, downtown) and the International Jazz Festival.
For the price you pay ($200+/night), I would prefer something more modern.
