| - Mexican food in Phoenix is generally some of the worst, most tasteless, greasiest Mexican food I've ever had. I'm told by many that's because the Mexican food here is based on the style of food from Sonora, Mexico. I don't know if that's true, but I'm always on the hunt for a killer Mexican place that elevates the normally bland, tasteless fare that we have around town.
BAM! Presidio will make your taste buds dance! Located in a small strip mall, it's probably not a place that would command your attention. I found them based on all the great reviews here, and I was not disappointed! My husband ordered the huevos rancheros and he was very impressed. The depth of flavor was unexpected and truly satisfying.
I ordered the carne asada. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. The corn tortillas looked and tasted like they were freshly prepared as they took a bit longer to cook. We also ordered the Totopos con Chile appetizer - forgive the spelling, I'm going from memory. It was super delicious, hearty, and satisfying. Highly recommended.
This is not a fine dining experience, this isn't that kind of 5-star review. But if you want a punch of flavor that will knock you out, in a pleasant atmosphere with cooks and service staff that exude a happiness in what they do, this is the place for you! :)
