  • Last night (New Year's Eve) was my first time at Brio, and my friend and I came in for dinner before going out. It was busy, which was expected, but were able to find a perfect little table for two in the bar area. I'm not going to sugar-coat it - once we sat down, we waited for a really long time to get our order taken, to get our wine and bread, and to get our meals. But on busy nights even at good places, things can go wrong - and I'm a firm believer that it is 100% about how staff and management handle themselves. Brio did an excellent job at recovering our experience. Our wine order wasn't put in and we had to flag the manager down after 15 minutes of wondering what was up, but she got our wine to us, and took the glasses off the bill. In fact, while we were having dinner, our server even brought us over two extra glasses. (The wine was delicious, one of their pinot noirs, but I can't remember exactly which one.) I didn't know what to expect out of our food since I'd never been here, but I was really impressed - the food is so good! I had a hard time deciding between their chicken pesto pomodoro, the pasta alla vodka and the pasta brio, but I decided on the pasta brio (rigatoni, roasted red pepper sauce, mushrooms and grilled chicken) since it's their signature dish and came highly recommended by our server. It was SO delicious and very flavorful - it wasn't spicy but still had the kick I crave! My friend had their chicken pesto over angel hair and didn't really love their pesto- according to our server it isn't true pesto - its base is chicken broth? So maybe that was why. But he ate it and had some of my pasta brio, and we both agreed that dish was incredible. Coming in on such a busy holiday, I think everyone at Brio handled themselves very well, even when there were mishaps. The atmosphere was really nice - had good lighting and seemed sophisticated but also jovial. And you can't beat the location - Tivoli Village is so pretty. I loved our experience here and can't wait to come back and bring my husband!
