  • I'm writing this review based on the discount section of this shop. I have to say, I shop here about twice a week exclusively in the reduced sections (the one closer to the back with produce and dry goods and the dairy chest at the front with cheese, yogurt, prepared foods). I would never shop here otherwise because its so outrageously over-priced. It is true that the flyer/advertised 'sales' are often on overstock, nearing-expiration goods. BUT if you don't mind and you want to eat organic/health/gourmet foods for cheap you can find some really great deals among the reduced and sale items. I'm so impressed with the value I'm getting that I'm writing this review to share my little tip with all of you lucky rascals. I'd rather buy food close to the expiry date than have it thrown out. I like to support small, local sustainable businesses and organic farms but its considerably more expensive than buying mainstream food- so this place has been great for me. I feel particularly good about buying the reduced organic dairy because its a shame to waste animal products. There's always tons of reduced organic dairy, a huge selection (the managers should really consider keeping better track of their ordering). I've been buying 1L containers of liberte organic milk/choc milk from the reduced section for $1.99. 650ml jugs of organic meadow yogurt or .5L of liberte organic greek yogourt for $1.99 as well and .5L organic meadow sour cream for $1.49. Typically, they're marked down with about a week left to the expiration date- not bad! I've been making ricotta from the milk and using the whey for bread starter if its gets too close to the date, its a fantastic, cheap way to enjoy organic dairy. Some nice cheeses are often reduced to $1.99 or 99c because they're about to expire and dips such as sabra baba ghanoush are marked down to 99c within a few days of the date. I recently picked up some gf, organic cereal bars as well for 99c. There are always great deals if you keep your eye out for them and you're not faint-hearted about food expiration dates (which are a guideline anyway). Not too shabby.
