| - go if you have a 2-4-1 or 50% off coupon $11. went on luau day today. and it was just.."meh."
After only 45 mins after opening, they ran out of the good sashimi (eel, tuna, shrimp, salmon) and just had "ok" rolls and a whitefish, not sure what it was. The pickled ginger was the peak of the sushi menu - chilled, and plenty of it. (Sarcam if you can't read it..)
So, then I tried the pork. The crispy skin (best part) was all gone, but the pork was tender.
The poi (gotta ask for it) - and yes I asked for some - was a bit sweet for me.
Lessee...the favorite luau food was the chili-lime chicken, because it was crispy! The huli-huli chicken was ok, but a bit dry, so make sure you get plenty of sauce on the bottom of the pan.
I passed on the prime rib- was overdone when I saw it two times. Then the third pass on the way to the dessert bar, I looked good, but I was full. the chocolate cake with mint ice cream was good -but average. No gelato. I looked for some fresh cut fruit, but it was canned, so passed on it.
In conclusion: next time, and only with the $11 price tag, I'll try the beef, lau lau (hidden away), som-moah chili lime chicken wings, and eat the non-sushi items.
Peel and eat shrimp is available, plenty of good choices with dessert and non-sugar added options, but try it once, and try something else.
