The reason why I am voting fairly low is that I felt they are overly paranoid about shoplifting. I was asked by two employees if I needed any "help", and not in the most friendly way. Stare me down already, why don't you ?
I know how to ask for help if I need it. It's a small store, so don't tell me the second employee hadn't realized I'd already been stared down and asked if I "needed help" by the first one. I love looking and taking lots of time shopping for art supplies - is there anything truly odd about that ?
I was doing my best to not take anything personally but really, they are a little overly serious when they come up to you, it doesn't come across like "can I help you" ? They may as well just say, "so, just what are you doing here" ?
One employee decided to hang out in the area where I was looking at things. Should I have apologized for being interested in their products ? Did I walk in with "criminal" painted on my forehead ? Maybe they should have told me I had 5 minutes to find my stuff and get out or else I'd be considered a suspect, no browsing around ? After I left I really felt a bit down about the whole negative experience.
