  • Affordable, close to authentic ramen. What more can you ask for? Monta Ramen is a fairly small ramen shop, seating maybe about 25-35 including the ramen bar area, but like most yelpers are keen to point out, they do try to move guests along. My family of 4 came right at the peak of dinner 7pm and only had to wait for 20 minutes, not too bad if you ask me. We started our meal off with a pork belly bowl which was just savory goodness. The pork drippings from the fat coated the each grain of rice and made it all savory, buttery, and utterly delicious. The slivers of red ginger also helped to cut the fattiness/greasy factor of this dish. Next came our orders. We each ordered some variety of ramen, but noticed that only the miso ramen came with "traditional" ramen noodles. Everyone else received these thinner noodles...still good, but not what we expected. I added a pad of butter and corn to my dish which made it more complete in my opinion....I also appreciated the fact that add-on's here ranged from $0.50 to $1.50 as opposed to my regular $1.50 to $3.00 in the Bay Area (for the same two spoonfuls of corn in most cases). My only complaint, outside of the noodle-snafu, was that our ramen was delivered lukewarm at best. It was a little off-putting.
