| - I understand that many of you will probably skip over this review due to its lengthiness, so here is the SparkNotes version: YUM has decent frozen yogurt and, following the closing of Sincerely Yogurt across the street, is the only froyo shop in Wexford. Their mediocre yogurt is not what warranted this one star review. Instead it was their customer service or lack thereof. I was treated disrespectfully by employees, overcharged for my yogurts, and, when inquiring about the price, was met with a manager who was rude and refused to address the issues. I will not be returning to YUM and hope you will make the 10 minute drive to TCBY or Sincerely Yogurt with me.
I usually do not review places due to the time commitment required to write a thoughtful review; however, YUM caught my attention in such a negative way that I felt I had to share my experience. A few friends and I recently visited this frozen yogurt shop to treat ourselves after our last day of school, but our excitement at finally completing the school year was ruined when we approached the counter to pay for our yogurts. One of my friends had made a last minute decision to join us at YUM and, therefore, did not have any money with her. She had asked if I could pay for her yogurt if she paid me back later. They cashier told us that if we were paying together we should put our yogurts on the scale together, but we requested that my friend's be weighed separately first so she would know how much money she owed me. The cashier responded rudely claiming that we were holding up the line and the people behind us would have melted yogurts by the time we were done. She did, however, agree to tell my friend the price of her yogurt alone: $4.99. We then placed both of our yogurts on the scale together and she told me that my yogurt was $9.98 and our combined total was around $16. My friend and I both felt like this could not be right, so we compared the weights of our two cups as we were walking away from the register. We came to the conclusion that they were around the same weight and there was no way mine weighed double hers. We returned to the counter and politely asked if they could reweigh our yogurts. The cashier demanded to know why we had requested this, so we explained that we just wanted to make sure our yogurts had been weighed correctly. The cashier's voice seeped with annoyance as she insisted that my friends yogurt was $5 and mine was $10. She promptly left while my friend and I were left standing there in awe of her audacity. She later told one of our friends that we were ridiculous and proceeded to complain about us to another YUM employee in front of our friends. But, if she was so sure that she were right, the dispute could have easily solved been solved by reweighing the yogurts. There were no other people in line when we asked her to do this, so we would not have been interfering with other people's enjoyment of their froyo. Instead of responding in a logical and civilized way, the YUM employee chose to be rude and disrespectful to her customers. When we later attempted to contact management, we were told that the store's security cameras had been checked and they showed that my friends yogurt had been removed from the scale before mine was weighed. I, like any other human, may have the occasional memory lapse; however, my seven witnesses confirmed that our yogurts had been weighed together. We later discovered that this manager was actually our cashier. The employee whom we were sure was a minimum wage paid worker who just didn't care about her job turned out to be the manager of the establishment. We were shocked to say that the manager could be so rude but now understood why she had lied about the security footage. I would recommend this frozen yogurt shop if you enjoy handing your money over to people who are unappreciative of their customers. I, however, will drive ten minutes longer to Cranberry the next time I am craving some frozen yogurt.
