| - FIVE STARS! If there were more, Mike Stell and his team would get them! Stell Roofing was the first call I made based on their excellent Yelp reviews. I wanted the best roofing company I could find so I figured why not start getting estimates from the most highly rated. They had an average of "excellent" out of 135 reviews and that by any account is impressive. When Mike arrived, he got his ladder out and immediately climbed on the roof and spent time checking everything out, next he prepared his estimate and after he sat down to explain to me how the roof would be installed, how the most recent technology in additional venting would be used to keep air circulating under the shingles and how the house would likely be cooler than in the past. He showed me the actual vent and explained how it worked. He also had a pallet of shingle colors that helped in my color choice.
Next, he provided me with a professional but not over the top folder with the kind of documentation that told me he was a man who ran a top level company, sincerely cared about his customers and would do whatever it took to make them 100% glad they chose Stell for their new roof. The packet included everything you would expect from a 5 star outfit--'Terms and Conditions,' What to Expect during installation, Cert of Liability Insurance, Better Business Bureau Accreditation certificate, AZ Contractors License, Owens Corning Preferred Contractor certificate and a shingle sample book (Corning has the best color samples). He also shared a couple of addresses where I could see some of their installed roofs. Talk about going the extra mile. Mike, his wife, Michelle, and his brother Junior along with all of the workers they employ, are solid and conscientious people...and they all are employees of the company. Not subcontractors who go from place to place looking for work. Mike and his family care in ways that are rarely seen these days. And today, I have the most gorgeous roof around that looks like it cost three times what I paid for it. Now, on to the next two outside projects of painting and landscaping.
Oh yes, one last thing. I got bids from two other companies. The second was fine. He spent time explaining the anticipated work and carefully prepared the estimate on the spot so I had it in hand before he left but it didn't hold a candle to Stell. The third bid was interesting. This fellow was more into bragging about how big his company was, what it was worth in millions of dollars and where he was going to spend the vacation he was leaving on the next day. He did not provide an estimate before he left my house but told me it would be there the next day via email. After several phone calls, it arrived a week late and was one sheet of paper. Lesson, do your due diligence.
I share all of this information so you can truly see the difference between Stell Roofing and the rest. I cannot say enough good things about Mike and team. They are the best in every way.
