| - I'm on the fence about this place. I just had a VERY reassuring experience there, but I've always been on guard.
Just a few days ago, I went there with what I thought was a leak. They inspected my car underneath and also under the hood. Silly me--it was condensation from the AC (woops). I apologized repeatedly and they were VERY nice, understanding, and didn't charge me a dime for their time.
Prior to this, however, I still wonder if I was tricked/overcharged. I recently paid about $500 for a new accelerator/battery. I know the prices make sense, but I wonder if I needed it. (Something was most definitely very wrong with my car, but I would have no idea what.) Before that, it was $500 for new brakes. (They had just inspected my cars months prior and said everything was ok. Then suddenly, my brakes are completely rusted over and need to be replaced. I was very suspicious.)
Also, be careful with the $10 oil changes they advertise. There are definitely stipulations and mine ended up costing close to $50. Of course, it depends on the car and whatnot.
The best advice I can give...absolutely check them out. They're good at what they do. But if you're not at least a little knowledgeable about auto repair (or you can't bring someone who is with you), keep your guard up and do your homework! Then again, that would apply to most auto places.
