  • In routine medical situations, finding a decent doctor with an equally decent staff is like finding a needle in a haystack. For something as invasive & risky as neck surgery finding the right doctor is downright terrifying. But with perseverance & diligence they do exist. Enter Dr. Hott. I pursued this doctor based solely on internet reviews. Thank you people! Here's the process: One must drop-off their MRI results and depending on the severity of one's condition will determine if an initial appointment will be set. This doctor is reportedly conservative about operating and, clearly doesn't take 'all' comers simply to generate revenue. Luckily, his office called and I met with him accordingly. His staff is efficient, kind and informative. No problems with the front of the house at all. Once in the exam room, it becomes quickly apparent that this doctor has a unique quality: he listens. We reviewed the MRIs. Then options are discussed...all of them and always referencing the MRI. He thoroughly explained why disc replacement and laminectomy were not options. Dr. Hott graciously answered all my 11 prepared questions w/o blinking. He has a good sense of humor, but is direct regarding the science. Needless to say, I scheduled the surgery. My nature is such that I'll still get a second opinion, but a mountain will have to moved to remove the comfortability I found with Dr. Hott...
