There is one constant when I go to Vegas. I will ALWAYS eat at Golden Steer. I will always get phenomenal service. I will always get a wonderful steak cooked to perfection. And I will always feel like the Rat Pack should be dining with me.
This visit was no different. The T-bone was cooked to perfection. The whipped potatoes were a wonderful surprise. The only difference on this visit was that I split a dessert. The chocolate cake is every bit the equal of their steak. It was a wonderful combination of moist cake and a milk chocolate mousse and a darker chocolate icing. I'm normally an ice cream guy if I do dessert at all -- but that cake may well be the best dessert I've had in a long time.
The real star of the evening was our server, Scot. Scot told us he'd only been at Golden Steer for a year, but you'd never know it. Utterly impeccable service. He knew the menu and virtually the entire wine list. He knew the history of the restaurant and its place in Vegas lore. He was friendly and chatty without being overly obtrusive.
I look forward to my next trip to Vegas where I will go out of my way to have Scot take care of my steak cravings again.
