Do not miss the Wintergarden during the Christmas season! If you manage to leave without a smile, you truly are a Grinch.
During the Christmas season, the Wintergarden is transformed into a winter wonderland! The center features a giant, beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Around the Christmas tree is a model train (actually, multiple trains like an Amtrak and CSX train). There were also hundreds of gingerbread houses made by local schools, scout troops, chefs and general citizens. The creativity was amazing. Everything from traditional Christmas themed houses to Halloween, Disney themes and everything in between. Some of my favorites were Fallingwater and the Pirate Parrot in gingerbread! Impressive and creative.
Surrounding the perimeter of the room were Santas from around the world. It was great to read about the Santa Claus traditions from places like Poland, Germany, Italy and China. There were paintings and life size Santas from each country represented.
The fact that the Crazy Mocha coffee shop was open inside and they had several areas for seating was an added nice touch. I had such a good time, I think I may go for another visit before the display ends.
