  • **Be prepared for the up-sell!** Husband and I had $1700 to burn on our flexible spending account. Came across a Groupon deal for this place that included the wavelength LASIK procedure at $1799 (great deal!). The only catch was that my flexible spending account company (ADP) required a doctor's note be completed IN ADDITION to the invoice in order for the procedure to be considered for reimbursement. When husband and I went for the consultation and I asked about getting the note signed, I kept getting shuffled to different people. The initial consultant said to ask the doctor, the doctor wouldn't touch it and said to ask the front desk receptionist, Robin. Robin told me the doctor would fill it out the day of surgery. At this point I was a little apprehensive but we proceeded anyway. Now came the up-sell. We were told for "lifetime coverage" it would be an extra $1,000. We politely declined as we were on a tight budget. That's when Brittney, a perky consultant, pressured us again to get the lifetime coverage "since we were getting such a good deal anyway." We declined. Day of surgery comes and my husband calls me while I'm in the lobby to say the collagen tear duct plugs we were told he needed were an extra $400. A quick Google search revealed not everyone needs them and they're recommended for people who suffer dry eyes BEFORE even having LASIK. This place sells them to every patient. Oh, and the one-year guarantee would be an extra $600, plus a $99 office visit fee. We declined these add-ons and that's when Brittney lost her perkiness and was clearly not happy we weren't shelling out more money. After husband's surgery, I asked Robin about the doctor's note we needed signed and she said the doctor couldn't fill it out until the end of the day when all surgeries were completed. That's when I lost my perkiness and told her I was getting the runaround. She said when we came back for husband's check-up in two days, the doctor's note would be ready. Drum roll, it wasn't. Robin tells me the doctor took it with him and was currently heading to their Tucson office for the day so she would email it to me. I told her I wasn't leaving the office until I had the letter in hand. I re-sent it to Robin via email and asked if any doctor currently in the office would sign it and she agreed. After an additional wait, I was relieved to finally have the doctor's note signed even though the White Out that Robin used on the note could have potentially voided its validity. Luckily, ADP accepted it and we were reimbursed. Lastly, I would just like to say that my husband was very happy with the results. It's unfortunate that this wonderful procedure was overshadowed with such HORRIBLE customer service and shady car salesman tactics. Be advised, we went to the Phoenix, AZ location and the overall Yelp! score on the app/website is for all the nationwide companies combined.
