There are some really cool things about the Mob Museum but it ended up being not as worth traveling outside the strip as I had expected. We went through the whole museum in an hour flat without really reading a lot of the displays. It was just too much to read and I think I was not in the right mindset to absorb it. I had too much adrenline from it being our first full day in Vegas to want to consume all this information.
The Valentine's Day Massacre Wall is the highlight of the place because when do you ever get to see something like that? I also loved the gift shop. It's probably one of the best I've been to at a museum. I really had to exercise some self control so that I didn't end up purchasing the ravioli spoon rest or the bullet shaped ice cube molds. The pictures of the crime scenes and the court room video were also really eye opening. The woman who led us into the court room happened to be a former mob wife whose husband had been murdered in the 90s. It doesn't get more authentic then that!
I would say if you really love mafia history and gangster stuff to check this place out. Otherwise, I would skip it if you just have a passing interest like myself. It's a bit far off the strip for just a few interesting objects and cool picture opportunities.
