| - Yummo. Simple, good, fresh food. The flavors speak for themself- which is good b/c this place is crazy packed so it can be hard to hear what anyone has to say. The beer battered fish tacos are light and remind me of SoCal. Big chunks of flakey, moist white fish cooked to crispy perfection on the outside. Ask for extra white cilantro sauce, it is just so damn good on everything!
My dining companion, a fellow foodie, did the nirvana eye-roll upon tasting her shrimp tacos. The menu has a great variety but isn't too big; there are just enough choices that everyone should be able to find something to enjoy. I can't wait to try the carne asada. The staff is friendly, laid back and accomodating. I asked for a side of their corn relish (in my opinion it's more a relish than salsa) and was given a large container. SCORE! This stuff alone is worth the visit. It is made in house and it has a sweet undertone that hits the tastebuds in all the right spots. One way I judge a mexican joint by the refried beans and this place has the best I've tasted in a looong time. They make their own, add lotsa of spice and a tiny kick, topped w/a touch of shredded cheddar and oodles of green onions - I could eat a whole bowl w/chips. Dangerous!
We had a 30 minute wait when we arrived on a Friday night around 8:30 so we were encouraged to visit one of two bars or check out the local galleries. We did both and enjoyed both. Had the weather cooperated, I doubt our wait would've been more than 20min as more people could've used the patio. Either way, I will gladly return and wouldn't mind another 30 minute wait. It's worth it.
