  • I always feel safe buying stuff at MEC because of their ridiculously generous return policy. I buy my experimental gear here if I can because it comes with such great insurance if I later regret my purchase. Plus, their prices are always fair. For example, I recently returned a $180 Brooks B17 saddle after 2 months of use because it turned into a taint hatchet. The staff at MEC noted that my seat did look uncomfortable, and gave me a full refund! I can't imagine another bike store in Toronto taking back a leather saddle after 2 months. The store where I bought my replacement B17 Imperial (not available at MEC) gave me a 1 week return period. I also find their bike repair shop very friendly. Their mechanics have fixed several issues with my non-MEC bike for free.
