I received a hot stone massage for Christmas. I used the gift certificate yesterday on my birthday. Before the massage the front desk man, Sean, showed me to the bathroom down the hall and said he would direct me where to go after I came out. When I came out he was gone, so I awkwardly stood in the hallway while other employees just stared at me instead of helping me find where to go. The massage itself was okay. However the woman asked me questions the whole time and left the hot stones between my toes at the end.
Upon check out, the staff basically attempted to coerce me into buying a year long membership.
This massage was a gift, I had no intention of buying a membership. These employees need to understand and respect that. I must have declined about a dozen times. The man, Sean at the desk finally gave up, only to have his coworker chime in and try her spiel on me. (This lasted about 10 minutes)
The way they would not take no for an answer was very rude and their persistence rendered me even more stressed out than I was before I came in for the massage. I felt very uncomfortable and honestly angry for being treated this way.
Also, as expected, the employee(s) who sold my boyfriend the gift certificate at the Cotswold location made him purchase $60 extra on the card in order to basically force a return visit. (The massage ended up costing $100 when he was told the total would be $160). So now I have $60 of my Christmas present on this gift card going to waste. This company is all about profit and not about actual relaxation.
