The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has been growing exponentially the past few years, just in the five years that I have been here, they have added 3 new parking decks, the football stadium, new residence building, etc. In my opinion right now, they're having some "growing pains." I think they lack the infrastructure to really grow at the rate that they have been. The tiny roads on and off campus (some with only a stop sign!) just don't support the size and traffic that they experience. Other issues are the crazy rising costs of student fees - health insurance has been increasing at an alarming rate and the parking passes have increased every year that I have been here too.
The newer parts of campus are beautiful - brick buildings, brick pathways... and then you have the older parts of campus. The older parts of campus are definitely in need of a face lift.
UNC Charlotte has actually been successful at attracting great professors, some of them are well-known and well-published in their fields.
Lots of things are still going on on campus - I think the most exciting is the work that's being done that will bring the light rail on to campus. I am sure that in a decade the UNC Charlotte campus that we know today will be almost unrecognizable.
