  • +I went to the store and ordered a double reclining sofa similar to the one I purchased back in Austin two years ago. The reason I decided to go with Ashley was because of the great service and the quality of the sofa I had purchased in Austin. The sofa was scheduled to be delivered two days later (Thursday). They called and I left work two hours early to be there when they delivered it. The delivery guys were great . . . the sofa wasn't. It was damaged so I rejected it. I received a call the next day stating they would schedule the sofa for the following week (Dec 22). I told them I wasn't sure if I still wanted to go through with the order. The lady informed me I had a 3 day window to cancel the order (it was the third day) without having a 10% penalty accessed for cancellation. She also told me I wouldn't be able to reject the next order. WHAT??? The store manager called me and guaranteed me the sofa would arrive before Christmas and would be in perfect condition. My gut told me no but I wanted a sofa for Christmas so I agreed to go ahead with the order. WHAT A MISTAKE! Today they called and I left work AGAIN to meet the delivery guys. And once again . . .the couch was damaged - more than the last one. The workmanship was horrible! The fabric was torn between one of the recliners and the middle cushion. The back had a strip of lining that had come unscrewed (nailed) from the main frame. I called customer service to see what could be done - nothing. They will order me another sofa. How many times do I have to leave work (without pay), only to be disappointed yet again by a damaged sofa. I told the agent I wanted to cancel the order so I'll be charged the 10% fee to cancel - even though I was guaranteed by the store manager it would be in perfect condition and on time. I found out the furniture gets shipped on shipping containers from Japan or somewhere overseas. Who knows what else happens to this furniture along the way! I have lost all confidence in Ashley Furniture and will take my business to a furniture store who backs their products with more than a three day guarantee.
