| - It is expensive, but grab a bag of the Nikisse Sidamo from 49th Parallel before the roasters run out. It is a highly fruity full bodied wonder that has a black tea syrupy finish that lingers for hours (an overstatement but it does linger most impressively). Almost as exciting is the El Retiro 100 percent Bourbon from El Salvador. It tastes like liquid chocolate with tangerine and honey undertones. This full bodied coffee is a great blending base as well.
Les also carries Malabar Gold from Josuma roasters, it is very full bodied, reminiscent of a chocolate mousse, and very low in acidity which means you can drink espresso after espresso and keep your stomach down. The crema is wicked and lasts the entire cup. Be forwarned, this coffee is blended with 30 percent Indian parchment Robusta beans meaning the caffeine kicks like a mule. Robusta has two to three times the caffeine content of Arabica beans. Not for Bodums but in a latte you will be in coffee heaven.
Between Les Jaworski, the owner, and Vince Piccolo and Mike Piccolo, the owners of 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters who supply his coffee you simply cannot go wrong. I am the pickiest SOB alive when it comes to coffee and was roasting commercially long long long before the speciality coffee industry even started - I sold the business well over 30 years ago. Both Les and the Piccolo brothers know what they are doing and if there are any issues they resolve them at the speed of light.
Kawa Espresso has incredible food to compliment there coffee, not just cake, biscotto's, and granola bars - full course meals that are superb. Les will sample any coffee you are considering buying in the clover.
Eastern European hospitality at its finest is the atmosphere to expect.
