This one of the cheaper alternatives in downtown Calgary, and if you're staying more than a few nights it's a pretty good option.
The rooms are more like apartment suites, complete with a full kitchen (including dishwasher) and laundry. Much of the decor is modern and stylish, though there are a few finishing issues - paint chips and a somewhat unfinished feel here and there. The beds are also far too soft, but that's just a personal preference. The staff is friendly if not entirely professional, but I did appreciate the bowl of gourmet jelly beans in the reception office!
This is about a 20 minute walk from downtown proper, and with some good pubs in the area and the Safeway right across the street there are plenty of eating options.
A big name hotel might do better on comfort, but Nuvo has some style and a good price. Not a bad choice if you're in Calgary for work or a short vacation.
