  • Reigning Doughnuts is a mere window off a side street in NoDa. The concept is novel and fun, but to me the donuts were just 'okay.' The donuts are served hot and fresh, but they place them in sleeves/bags that cling to, and then effectively remove, the frosting/toppings. They have a slight crunch to them before getting to the cake like center. The flavors are limited, but I'm guessing they will rotate seasonally. Reigning also offers counter culture coffee and hot chocolate. The place certainly adds to the appeal of NoDa and fits right into the neighborhood mix. I'll certainly go back on occasion, but I'm not longing for a donut fix on the daily.
