We came here for one night as part of a two-day "staycation". The price was a little high for what we got. We were in a room on the South side of the building with a King sized bed. It took a while for us to get checked in, and as we were signing all of the forms and acceptances we saw that they don't allow any outside food or drink. Okay. This may be acceptable if you were in the vicinity of anything, but this hotel is not. By having this rule they limit you to their tiny little convenience store and their restaurant (or you can make the 10/15 minute drive to the Lodge, which has pretty decent food and is the only other dining option on the mountain). We also thought this was pretty absurd considering the fact that many people come up to the mountain to hike and choose to stay in the hotel...what if those people brought a picnic lunch? They're forced to leave their cooler in the car for their stay or only eat what the hotel has to provide? Luckily we have a small cooler that is basically a large, fabric, insulated lunchbox on wheels that looks like a floral suitcase, so we were able to get our picnic food in to the room with us. They also place a pretty high hold on your card, which takes nearly a week to fall off after you check out. What are you going to charge me for? Stealing a thin scratchy towel? No thank you. I understand holds on cards, but theirs seemed high for what the place is.
The room itself was just okay. The views were nothing spectacular and the bed was basically like sleeping on a rock. The bathroom was very small and the water pressure was bad. There was no WiFi in our room, and we got roughly ten TV channels. Granted we were only there for a night, so these aren't huge concerns.
I feel like they get away with a lot in the way of weird rules and charges because they have a monopoly on the mountain. Unfortunate because the place could be much more appealing.
