The Roxy theatre used to have its place with inexpensive admission and really good prices for popcorn and snacks. It was my go to theatre to get away from crowds and a cheap night out at the theatre with the kids. Whether living in Airdrie or driving in from Calgary, it was a safe bet for a good experience.
Fast forward to current day experience. I admit, it's been awhile since i attended the Roxy, so I was pretty surprised the ticket prices were slightly less then Landmark Calgary. But that's the best it will get. The food prices are insane for a low end movie theatre....it's the same prices as landmark Calgary. Seats are old, dirty, and on their last leg. Entire theatre is outdated and your typical small town theatre. Except someone missed the memo...prices are too high.
Why on earth would anyone go to Roxy and pay the same prices as Calgary Landmark when they can go to a state of the art Landmark 16 and get reclining seats, awesome soda machines, new everything and well worth the money.
Tuesday's are cheaper but crowded...no different then cheap Tuesday in Calgary, so might as well order tickets online and drive to Calgary.
Anyways, I was disappointed and surprised with the prices and paid $30 for their 2 popcorn and drink combo.
