  • Called them at 9am this morning, 12 May 2017. Girl on the phone took notes and said the supervisor would get right back with me. No one called for 5 hours. I checked back in at 1:30pm and the new guy on the phone said there was no record of me calling. So he took my info again, then I heard in the background that the supervisor "was just about to get back with me." Long story short, they were not available to replace my water heater today. No problem, they could send out a tech Monday morning to assess the situation. Pretty simple, standard mechanical issue, 50 gallon water heater, natural gas, easily accessible in the garage. When I asked, for a ball-park figure the kid pressed that they don't give quotes over the phone. I pushed back stating that I had already received two local quotes and pressed that I wouldn't proceed without a ball-park figure. Kid finally, and reluctantly quoted me, "14 and a half to 18"...to my reply, "fourteen hundred and fifty to eighteen hundred dollars?!" I spit my water across my desk and started to laugh. "This isn't even close to two quotes from people with better ratings on other social media. What is this water heater, gold plated?" He then asks if I want a tech to come out. Knowing this is an old-school, high-pressure sales tactic I tell him that sure, have your guy come out and we can talk, but I am NOT AGREEING to any service visit fees. To be clear, if you want to try and charge me $1,800 for installing a $300 water heater, be certain I am not agreeing for any "visitation fee" to have some guy tell me what I already know. Without hesitation, the kid then proceeds to tell me that the "service visit" is $129 which is wonderfully waived if/when I choose/forced to use them. I asked them what Brands they install, he can't tell me. I asked him what Warranty's they have, he can't tell me. Basically the kid can't tell me anything other than they can come out for $129 and try and hard-press, bait and switch me into a situation which is $1,000 more than their better reviewed competitors. When I tell him this, he replies in an inquisitive by demeaning manner, "Bait and switch?" As if he has no clue that this is exactly what their business model is. These guys are hiding their intentions. They are going to press homeowners into a tense position where they push overpriced products and services leveraging guilt, authority, manipulation, etc. Typical used-car salesman crap that I have zero tolerance for. Seriously folks, this is a sham-scam. Don't waste your time unless you want some high-pressure sales guy to come out and make you feel bad enough about yourself to fork over $1,800 for a service that other reputable people in the Valley charge $850. UPDATE 1: 12 May 2017, 23 minutes after posting this Review!!! Chad the manager of Sunny Plumber called my cell phone. He left a message asking me to call him back. Seems like a nice enough guy. Chad, since you are monitoring social media so efficiently (calling my cell phone 23 minutes after posting the original review), perhaps you should call people back in less than 5 hours when they need a quote. Lorraine at USA Plumbing, who originally referred me to you because her staff was booked, gasped at your business practices. She was appalled that you would approach customers the way that you do. For sure she won't be referring anyone to Sunny Plumber in the future if her staff is full up. Seriously Chad, this is a commoditized service and product, trying to charge $1,000 more than your competition by trying to send out high-pressure sales dudes at at cost is a joke. Also, if you want to talk with me on the phone, my service fee starts at $129, so I suggest you lose my number and avoid calling me back. UPDATE 2: 15 May 2017 USA Plumbing sent their guy out and fixed my problem for $850 Monday afternoon. Apparently, someone at Sunny Plumber called Lorraine up and screamed at her for referring me to them, demanding never to refer anyone again! Wow, just wow.
