| - BUYER BEWARE!! Bought a $1700 gaming computer in May, 2017 - seven months ago. A couple keys came loose and fell off the keyboard, so we took the computer back to Fry's as we bought the $300 warranty and we told by the cashier at the time of purchase the warranty covered everything physical and internal. Image our surprise when the service desk told us:
1. It cannot be proved it was not physical damage so the warranty won't cover the keys.
2. The cashier is "over there" (while pointing toward the checkout area) and the service department knows what is covered and is not, not the cashiers, so regardless of what we were told, it won't be covered.
3. They will send the computer to their corporate office to see if it can be repaired, and if not it will go back to MSI as it is still under manufacturers warranty, so even though Fry's $300 warranty won't cover it, the manufacturer may.
4. Anticipate 8 weeks for the keys to be replaced (which we had with us) and returned to Fry's.
5. When I asked to speak with the manager, she was with some Maintenance people getting the store ready for a CES inspection, so the customers came second at this time and we can wait over half an hour or more to speak with her.
6. When the manager finally showed, she told me there was some stickiness on the keys, so something was spilled. I told her if something was spilled, the entire keyboard would be affected, not a letter "P" key and the up arrow key only and specifically.
DO NOT BUY WARRANTIES FROM FRY'S AS THEY MUST USE INCENTIVES FOR THEIR CASHIERS TO GIVE INCORRECT INFORMATION TO GET CONSUMERS TO PURCHASE THE WARRANTY. WHEN THE TIME COMES TO USE THE WARRANTY, THE SERVICE SECTION WILL STATE THE CASHIERS DON'T KNOW WHAT IS AND IS NOT COVERED, THUS THINGS ARE NOT COVERED THAT WERE STATED WOULD BE.
I demanded a refund on the $300 warranty, and was refunded $200 back after seven months of never using it due to it being "prorated from use".
Never again will I ever buy anything from Fry's due to the scam they use giving incorrect information then not backing the information up.
