| - I'll preface this by saying that I got two tickets for free because Darryl Ross, the man in charge of VIP, offered to let me and a guest fly after the radio station I interned at did a live remote at Heli USA. I didn't have a chance to take a helicopter tour then, so he said I was welcome to do it at a later date. I decided to save up my tickets for when Arkady G. came out to visit me, because, well, it's something I don't have extra cash lying around for and it's different!
We walked from the Luxor to Heli USA, it took us maybe 15-20 minutes tops to do so. Because I had been there before, it wasn't difficult to find. The place was pretty packed because it was a Saturday night (Oct. 2) We each took some of the gratis dry champagne (Mmmm) and I ended up spilling it all over myself when I handed a guy my camera to take a picture of us. Nice.
Everything was easy breezy. After watching the safety/buy our DVD package video, we waited a very short time and our names were called. We were loaded into a van to be driven on to the airstrip, right behind the building. We were given our seating arrangement numbers, got on the helicopter and took off. There's no flash photography, and that's not really a problem because it would mean you'd get washed out shots of the strip.
After you're done, you get to sit on the bus until it's time to go. The driver was nice enough to take us as far as MGM so we didn't have so far to walk in the dark. Definitely a great experience all around.
