Just prior to the weekend my dog groomer tells me to bring my dog in for a cut "this Wednesday at 2pm." (her words). I show up at 2pm yesterday (Wednesday) and she had obviously forgotten about our appointment, but took him anyway. She had him for almost 5 hours (while servicing several other dogs) and returned him to me half-shaved at 6:30pm. I drove almost 2 hours to and from Etobicoke for this groom. He looks ridiculous obviously. The assistant that brought him to my car told me I could come back the next day (today) and they would finish the cut. No big deal I thought to myself, while laughing at his funny hair-do. I called Pawfect Cuts today to see if there was a spot open either today or tomorrow and Laura-Leigh tells me she is too busy and won't be able to finish her hack-job for another 6 days! I'm sorry, but it is completely unacceptable to not finish a groom and leave a dog looking like hell for almost a week! How difficult would it be to simply finish the cut - even if it required spending an additional half an hour before or after her other scheduled appointments. She then lashed out falsely stating it was me who mixed up the date - when there is a clear record of our message history. I suggested if she was too busy I could try to find someone else to finish the job sooner and she encouraged me to do so saying "if you can't keep your appointments straight you might want to find another groomer!". ... alrighty then! She then informs me that the full payment (plus tip) which I had given to her in advance when I dropped the dog off was already in her bank account and wasn't being refunded to me. Wow. Talk about BRUTAL customer service. This was someone I considered a friend and who's business I've promoted on social media a few times in the past. Shocking how she just handled this situation actually. I won't be going back to Laura Leigh McClelland DiGiovanni at Pawfect Cuts grooming ever again, that I know. She has just recently taken over the business from the owner who has retired. If she continues treating paying customers like this, I would not be surprised if she runs this business into the ground in no time. A VERY disappointing experience to say the least.
.. UPDATE: I have received several unbelievable profanity-laced emails from Laura-Leigh (despite me asking her not to email/harass me) sent after she read my review i assume. In them she lies repeatedly (to justify her brutal handling of this situation I assume) and lashes out aggressively.
A few snippets from some of her emails to me :
"Suck it up Princess. Sucks to have a big mouth and discover that you are the one that's the asshole huh?"
"You are unbelievably rude and arrogant to think that anything that you say on your Facebook page will affect me. I have not gotten one reference from you. And btw, thanks for making the opening week of my business as hectic as it could ever be. Like I said, I will pay you not to come back. I would gladly welcome Wilco. It's not his behaviour that bothers me. It's you princess. ".
"Now I know why Wilco is such a nervous dog. His owner is a very angry man with his head up his ass. "
She goes on claiming that I have "come on the wrong day for every appointment." This is absolutely ridiculous as I've never once shown up on the wrong day! Every booking was done via Facebook messenger and there is written proof that I have adhered to our scheduled appointments each and every time.
She goes on to blast me for using cheques to pay her saying "I stopped telling you that I don't take cheques because every time you come, you write me a cheque." Never once has Laura-Leigh told me to pay her in cash. She gladly excepted my cheques and never once indicated that she wanted to be paid another way.
How ridiculous is all of this?! Hard to believe actually. The lies and her anger have me legitimately concerned for her well being.
This woman clearly needs to take a course in human relations/customer service. Unbelievable! ** True Colours **
Oh and just a warning - this business has written their own Yelp reviews 4 times now (possibly more?). 3 have been removed by Yelp and one still remains up and active (see for yourself). How sad is that?! Laura Leigh also wrote a fake review for my real estate Yelp page (despite never having been a real estate client!). It was chalked full of slanderous lies and falsehoods (disgusting really) and was posted as revenge for my honest review of her business. Yelp recognized it as bogus and against their guidelines and immediately removed her review. Most (if not all) of the good reviews for this business were left when it was owned by someone else. This woman (the new owner/operator) is NASTY and vindictive. I would't walk away from this groomer, I would RUN!
