| - I'm thrilled but also surprised to be the first review! J & L Christmas Trees & Open Air Market, I will be loyal to you as long as I am in Cleveland. Last year my boyfriend and I stumbled across this place while looking for a Christmas tree because it is conveniently located right on Euclid Avenue near (in?) University Circle. It was a week before Christmas, but the service was outstanding and the tree was SO inexpensive!
This year, we tried to stop at the nursery & tree place on Cedar Ave. near Taylor Street, because once again convenience called and we just stopped while driving by. However, it was a bust because 1) the trees were much more expensive, and 2) the place was closed, anyway! It was 7:something on a Tuesday evening. Who has time to shop for Christmas trees during workday hours? We promptly drove to the J & L Market and actually felt guilty about not going there in the first place based on the great experience we had had the previous year.
And again this year, it was a pleasant time! The guy helping us was likely the same person we had met last year. He took us back and forth across the lot of trees and laughed with us as we kept moving up to a slightly bigger size. I found out that he works twelve hour days from just after Halloween until Christmas without one day off. Someone, bring that man some hot chocolate! He deserves it for his genuine helpfulness and simply spending the much time outside in the cold cutting branches and tying trees to people's vehicles.
We ended up getting a 6.5 foot Frasier Fir tree and it was only $42. It was tied to the car without question with no delay. Our tree last year was probably 4 feet (a cute little Scotch Pine) and only cost $20(something?) as far as we can both remember! That's a steal, people!
In sum, go here for all of your Christmas tree needs, and make a tradition out of it. They have plenty of variety and a small, medium or large tree that will suit your sizing desires. And, someone bring that guy a hot chocolate!
