  • As a first time parent and loving mother I was extremely uneasy about my son beginning daycare. He had been cared for by my husband and I since birth and is now 7 months old. Because the work schedules of my husband and I changed we were no longer able to care for my son at home. We don't have very much family in Las Vegas, NV and certainly no one that was able to care for my son on a consistent basis when we were scheduled to work. We realized that we had no other choice than to put our son in daycare while we were at work. Sadly we began the daunting task of finding a quality daycare that was within our budget. We soon realized that for quality childcare that was not operated by state funding we were going to need a bigger budget. After about a month of searching, a coworker suggested La Petite Academy. She gave stellar reviews about her experiences with her 2 year-old daughter's learning and development at the location near Craig and Simmons. I hadn't researched La Petite Academy yet, so I decided to explore the website and schedule a tour. After researching La Petite Academy I found it to be very similar to the Merryhill Schools, which are considered to be very prestigious. When I went on the tour I was greeted by Ms. Sheena who seemed very happy, friendly, and eager to give me information. As a first time parent I wasn't sure of many topics I needed to cover prior to making a decision for my son. Ms. Sheena was EXCELLENT in helping me fill in the gaps. When I got home my husband and I discussed the pros and cons of each childcare facility we visited. With some financial adjustments, we were please to choose La Petite Academy for our son's daycare. We chose La Petite Academy because the facility I visited was clean, the staff was friendly, the kids seemed to be enjoying themselves, and there was an actual curriculum for infants. La Petite wasn't just an average daycare/childcare facility. La Petite Academy focused on early learning and development, which is a big plus for my husband and I. We didn't want our son going to a place where his mind wasn't being stimulated throughout the day. Another huge benefit is the PreciouStatus application that sends me updates on how my son is doing throughout the day. I receive cute little pictures, updates on when he goes potty and eats, and his well-being. As a first time parent I greatly appreciate this app because I was literally in tears after I took him in for his first day (I cried much more than my son did on his first day). The PreciouStatus app sent me a ton of pictures which put a Band-Aid on my broken heart (it's a mom attachment issue I'm slowly getting over). My son has been attending La Petite Academy for about 3 weeks and loves the staff and other kids that attend the facility. So far he's done artwork, interacted/socialized with other kids his age, played outside, established quality relationships with the staff, etc. At 7 months old his personality really has shined bright through the interaction with other kids and development with the staff at La Petite Academy. Even though La Petite Academy is a little out of our budget, we are very pleased to make certain sacrifices so that our son can continue to receive developmental enrichment at a place where the staff loves him just as much as we do. I just wanted to express a well-deserved THANK YOU to the staff and administration at La Petite Academy. I thank you for being available to give quality care to our son in our absence. Thank you for easing the pain of me giving my son to people that were once strangers but now serve very prominent roles in the lives of our family. Thank you for always being friendly and understanding. Thank you for helping first time parents cope with separation anxiety. And thank you for so many other things that go unnoticed and taken for granted. The role that the staff serves proves insurmountable to the families that bring their kids to La Petite Academy. I am a true testament to that. Thank you ...thank you...thank you.
