  • We came here for my wife's 40th birthday as a special treat. Just like most people, we have seen Gordon Ramsay's shows and wanted to experience a higher end steakhouse. This seemed to foot the bill pretty well. We had a small wait when we arrived but nothing too long. We were seated on the second floor in a room that looks to be meant for larger parties. Our servers were amazing. Attentive, pleasant and informative it was everything you would expect for this type of place. The atmosphere and ambiance are second to none and for a while you almost forget you are in a casino. So why the 3 stars? First off... 3 stars is A-ok and if there was an option I would do 3.5 stars. I wasn't a "fan" hence no 4 stars. Let's start with the water. We were asked if we wanted still or sparking (maybe? I forgot the other option) and we said still. We were all charged $9.00 for that water. Since we didn't have the option of free water I guess our hands are tied here. We skipped going with any appetizers as we felt the entree and sides would be enough. We did get a lovely bread plate that was tasty. I ordered the ever famous Beef Wellington (more on that later), while 3 other people in our party ordered the recommended Rib Cap. I also ordered the Roasted Bone Marrow and Mac and Cheese as a side. We also ordered several drinks that were all pretty tasty. Again, this entire time the service was excellent and the company I was with fantastic... which made the "additional 45 minute" wait bearable. We were there a total of 2 hours for dinner. Ironically enough we had just watched the Masterchef Junior edition where they had to make the Beef Wellington. Where were those kids when we went to dinner? Based on all the critic that Gordon gave on the preparation I would have thought his restaurant would do better. Had the Beef Wellington I got showed up in that competition, that person would have been sent home. The cook of the steak was perfect but the pastry was tough to eat. Either I didn't get a sharp enough knife or there was something wrong there but it was shredding with every cut. I had to cut each item separately than reassemble it to get the entire picture. The entire table was in agreement that while we had a great time and the food was tasty, it may not be worth the price of admission. We did it once and glad we did but will be passing the next time we are in town. Side Note: They do nothing for birthdays unless you buy a desert, then they will throw a candle in it for you. Not that I was expecting too much but most places would do something small on the house.
