I have a soft spot for this airport, mainly because of the classic Jimmy Eat World song. For a large airport that is a hub for both US Air and Southwest, I guess it could be worse. Here is the breakdown:
Arrivals: All of the terminals connect to the main hub. You'll head downstairs for baggage claim and rental cars. If you're picking up someone curbside, be prepared to be frustrated because it's pretty much chaos during busy times.
Departures: If you have a rental car, make sure you arrive extra early to account for taking the shuttle and the long hike to whichever terminal you are flying from. Food options are okay - the airport is slowly moving from boring chains to more local places. The seating areas are usually pretty cramped and outlets can be found (especially in the Southwest terminals) but you're better off preparing for standing and no outlets.
Connections: I always allow at least 45 minutes for a connection here. You may be tricked by thinking your connection is close because it is in the same terminal but there are a few spokes for each terminal so getting from C12 to C1 (for example) requires you to get to the end of your arriving terminal and then head to the other part of the terminal over the length of two moving walkways and then to the end of the next part of the terminal. Hope that paints a pretty enough picture.
Pro-tips: weather usually isn't an issue here so if you're flying in the winter, this is a good airport to use (just be aware of your connection time!)
