What a gorgeous church!
After a long day of meetings, my coworker and I decided to explore the city. Concierge at our hotel suggested for us to head down to Old Montreal to see the Notre-Dame Basilica (Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal is the French name).
The sun had already set by the time we arrived in the area and we were worried it might not look as nice. Let me tell you... the building is very breathtaking at night. The architecture is spectacular with an old European feel. The windows were illuminated a lovely blue hue and there were lit up angels under each archway. I'm guessing the angels are up only during the holiday through winter though.
I'm really bummed we missed the visiting hours. The pictures that other yelper posted of the inside look amazing! If I ever have a chance to return to Montréal again, I will make it a point to fit another visit into my schedule. It cost us CAD$45 + tip to cab it from our hotel (near the airport), and we had to brave the freezing cold temperature to capture some pictures from outside, but it was so worth it!
Fun fact: This is where Celine Dion married René Angéli - December 17, 1994.
