| - I have to say, I absolutely dislike going into a restaurant without a=reading all of the reviews beforehand, so when I was grabbed by my friends while walking down Fremont street to eat a the "first diner" place they laid their inebriated eyes on, I was horrified to enter Du-Par. However, after settling down, taking in the ambiance, reading through the menus and learning about the history behind this diner and its famous pancakes, I was placed at ease.
I will say that Du-Par is a great diner that's just unfortunately situated in Vegas. The pancakes were absolutely amazing, so soft and delicate and massive as well! I begged for an order smaller, but I was able to find solace in sharing such giant carb-heavy dishes with my friends. I do not recommend the whipped cream, it taste like it's procured from the can....a few days ago and was just left to aerate in the Vegas perfume.
The tuna sandwich was ok and the beef stew was filing, but none of which compared to the pancakes. I will say that the $3.5 cocktail shrimp is a great deal if you're into shrimps and don't worry about how much it costs to serve cocktail shrimps at home. The beer is also cheap, for Vegas standards.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by my dining experiences here and would recommend it to anyone walking down this touristy, well-lit road.
