| - Belated Happy National Ice Cream Day 2016!
This year I have challenged myself to celebrate 25 National Calendar Days. It looked like I had missed out on National Ice Cream Day. As the cards played out, a day after National Ice Cream Day, my brother and I had walked by Scoops Ice Cream on the way to the Aliante Walking Trail. After the hike, I'd belatedly celebrate National Ice Cream Day 2016 in this very Scoops.
This Scoops Ice Cream is located in prime Alienate real estate off Aliante Parkway in the Smith's Shopping Center that includes Arby's and Starbuck's. It is across from the Aliante Discovery Nature Park and a short walk to the Aliante Walking Trail.
On a July afternoon where the Las Vegas temperature reached 108 degrees, the ice cream cone hit the spot. If it was a cool day later in the year, I would have sat at one of the tables outside. The Day after National Ice Cream Day, the few tables were available.
Where there are a few tables in this relatively small ice cream shop, there are a plentitude of Thrifty ice cream flavors. With this review I posted a picture showing the 36 flavors of Thrifty ice cream. And talk about flavors. The unique Thrifty flavors include Circus animal crackers, blueberry cheesecake, Medieval Madness, and Coconut Pineapple. I wasn't celebrating National Unique flavors Day and ordered a scoop of strawberry ice cream in a cake cone.
At Scoops; they give the customer a choice of a cup, cake cone, waffle cone, sugar cone, and other choices. There is a sundry of toppings. The admission to experiencing the cone of ice cream was $2.80 after taxes.
Before I kicked the strawberry ice cream, I saw that uniqueness comes in more than flavors. Disparate from several ice cream shops that serve round scoops of ice cream, Thrifty serves square scoops. This was a nice size square scoop. The delicious strawberry ice cream was interspersed with nice strawberry bites. When it comes to Ice cream the best is saved for last. Towards the end of the belated National Ice Cream Day celebration, the crunchy cake cone complimented the strawberry ice cream. If I was still hungry, I would have ordered blueberry Cheesecake. Moreover if my home was nearby, I could of extended National Ice Cream Day into a National Ice Cream Week by purchasing a tub to go from their Grab N Go Thrifty ice cream refrigerator case.
There were two young women manning the shop. They were pleasant at the exact time they were not enthusiastic. I appreciate that the woman that served my ice cream encouraged me to take my time while surveying the flavors of ice cream in the L-shaped counter display case. I also appreciate that she thanked us for visiting when my brother and I exited the door.
National Ice Cream Day may arrive once a year in July. However, at Scoops everyday can be an ice cream day.
