| - If you are looking for a property management company who cares for their clients, is open and honest, please look elsewhere. We applied to live in a condo in Henderson, on 1050 Cactus. When we first did the walkthrough, we smelled an odor. We were assured it was because of a musty smell, and after opening windows and airing it out it would go away. We should have followed our gut because we were only told lies. Upon moving in and turning the AC on, it was pumping cigarette smoke out like a casino. We aired the windows out for multiple days, had 4 fans going, and burned multiple candles. The first night we stayed at the condo, we both had trouble breathing and allergic reactions in our eyes. We ended up sleeping in our car because neither of us could breathe. Upon contacting Nicklin, we were told we were overly sensitive. The toilet seats were completely stained yellow, lights had marks from cigarette smoke (see photos), and light switches were never switched out. They purely tried to just cover up the smell. We continued to air out the condo for multiple days but stayed with family elsewhere, and sent a letter demanding a release from our lease (which CLEARLY stated it was a Non-smoking property), and a full refund.
The neighbors informed us the individual who lived there before, was there for 9 years and smoked everyday in the house. After the demanding letter, Nicklin allowed a release from the lease, and a full refund, purely because they knew they were in the wrong. We had to have everything professionally cleaned, dry cleaned, and did over 30 loads of laundry. Over a month later, multiple of our items still smell of cigarette smoke. We were told multiple times we were overly sensitive and a smoker never smoked inside but only on the patio. I would love to see anyone from that office stay a night in that disgusting condo and tell me again we are just sensitive. We have been out for a month now, it cost us almost $1,000 after having everything cleaned and put in storage to sanitize, and not to mention a huge inconvenience in our life. I would never recommend Nicklin to anyone, as I could never trust anyone that continues to lie.
