  • I'm just going to say, this was more my scene than the famous Las Vegas Strip. The Fremont Street Experience is Old Vegas. It is cheaper, rougher around the edges, unique, janky, and super fun. Featured in at least one Elvis movie, Fremont Street dates back to 1905, and the west end casino lights were made famous in several movies and television shows of a bygone era. Yes, it is admittedly grungier than that other more famous street, and you may suddenly get overwhelming intuition that you really should wash your hands, BUT in my opinion, Fremont Street is not to be missed. I have quite an appreciation for local history anywhere I go, and on a recent trip to Las Vegas, my first since I was underage, I decided to hit up a few points of interest. We started at the Mob Museum, then made our way down to the D. Here I found a balcony to enjoy my yard (cheaper here than on the Strip!) and to watch the Slotzilla Zipline folks fly by. For dinner we chose Triple George Grill, which was delicious. Wandering around Fremont Street drinking outdoors, unchecked, bouncing from shop to shop was an awesome vacation experience. If you want something a little more wallet friendly, with more local flavor, check out the Fremont Street Experience. Street performers, funky musicians, people dressed up in all manner of ostentatious outfits, a Random Minion, street vendors, outdoor bars, trinket shops, and colorful people line these streets. There's never a dull moment.
