  • I've been to DaanGo twice and if I could, I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5. I bought two cakes from them and 3 macarons. The first cake I bought was 3:15 which is a coffee and tea flavoured cake. It was $48 which is on the more expensive side (I forgot the size that I got). I can't say I was blown away. I had high expectations because of the hype and also because of the price. The coffee flavour really pulled through which I appreciate but the tea flavour was a bit off. I feel like I know what tea flavour they're trying to achieve but it came out bitter and weird. The pineapple bun crumble (I forgot the exact description they had) is one of my favourite thing in the world...but not on this cake. I like the idea of it but the execution wasn't really there. Pineapple bun crumbles were a bit soggy but I wish it was more on the crunchy side. The second time I visited DaanGo, I got the Christmas cake (matcha fraisier) for $42 and 3 macarons for $10. Again, I am not a fan of their cakes! I just feel like it wasn't worth $42. Yes, it was super adorable with Totoro macaron on the top but in my opinion (and I may get a lot of hate on this), it's just a sponge cake and it doesn't require $42 worth of skills to make it. Of course, the ingredients might be expensive (matcha powder can get super expensive) but the matcha flavour didn't really pull through either (again, I know matcha has a more subtle taste). The star of the show is really the macarons. They are super cute and the texture/flavour are most definitely there. These are some of the most expensive macarons I've ever bought but it's certainly worth the splurge on a special occasion. I got Hello Kitty (white peach), Daisy Duck (Earl Grey), Rilakkuma (HK tea), and I tried the Totoro (coffee?) that was on my cake. I thought that the white peach flavour was very special because you don't see that flavour everywhere. The Earl Grey tasted like Froot Loops. I really hope somebody else on Yelp can confirm it so I know I'm not crazy. The HK tea and the coffee were very flavourful. I will probably come back a few more times just because I'm a sucker for cute things but I'll stick mainly to their macarons.
