| - Having been a few times now, the Yelp hate on this place continues to mystify me. The tacos are never going to be the cheapest. But this isn't a food truck and these aren't run-of-the-mill tacos that can be effortlessly cloned in your home kitchen (or if you can, kindly invite me over at your earliest convenience). They are, for the most part, adventurous, aggressive, tradition-be-damned creations that make a lot of places seem boring if not outright terrible in comparison. The chips/salsa are my favorite in town. I've never experienced less than prompt, genuine service. The tap list and other drinks similarly come out swinging.
Issues: I think it's plain dumb not to be open for lunch/brunch Saturday and to be closed completely Sunday. This strikes me as a wasted opportunity, because I don't like most brunch experiences in Pittsburgh to put it kindly. I would definitely get here on the weekend if it were open, and if they could offer a respectable michelada then they may have to resort to use of force to keep me away. I also wish they would offer fresh corn tortillas. But if making or sourcing fresh corn ones is impractical, I would, by far, rather have flour than bad corn ones. Lastly I would love it if they had churros because churros are irrefutably the greatest (there's a rotating dessert but I'm never able to think about it, having put down a mortifying quantity of chips).
Despite these gripes there is no way I'm dropping it to four *'s. I remember these meals weeks after having been here. I can't say that about many joints (taco or otherwise).
