| - Health club and spa is definitely what this place is. I would add social club as well, which is very important to note.
GVHC is more of an elite club than a gym. Which, they seem to do very well. The membership pays for much more than just treadmills and weights. Mostly, there is a social aspect here that you don't get at most other places. GVHC organizes a lot of events and focuses on keeping its members engaged as a small community.
There is almost nothing this place doesn't offer - almost all of the equipment and other fitness spaces you would expect. The facilities are second to none. They offer almost every spa service imaginable.
If the price is not a deterrent - $1,200 initiation fee (which can be negotiated) and $170/month membership fee - there's no good reason to be a member at any other gym in the area, unless it's either for convenience or a specialty purpose. As an example, if you are a serious weight-lifter / body builder, there are probably better options. Their weight training area and equipment is great and not missing much. It is a good space. But, there are other gyms that would be better for that type of athlete.
It's not for everybody. If you need a place to go workout, and you want to get in and get out, this is not the place for you when you could pay $30-50/month at a normal gym. If you are wanting the full package, this is a great option.
