  • Clearly all the planning time went on the branding and aesthetics. Beautiful stickers, clever name, crap donuts. Unfortunately I went looking for donuts. Here's the honest truth - the Loblaws at College and Church makes far superior donuts at less than half the price. Sure, the counter's not made of logs, and it's only faux hipster cool, but the Loblaws donuts are far tastier. I headed to Glory Hole donuts optimistic that Toronto's answer to San Francisco's Dynamo Donuts (http://www.dynamodonut.com/) had arrived. It hasn't. We bought a half dozen donuts, ranging in price from $3.50 to $4.50, and not one was good enough to actually eat the whole thing. My two-and-a-half year old lost interest and then declined further pieces asking "Can we please go to Clafouti instead?". Seriously, when a two-and-a-half year old turns down donuts, you know there's a failure. Dough is full of air, the flavours are decidedly one note, and everything is too sweet. The only exception was the lemon ricotta donut holes. Those are the only reason this place gets any stars at all. They were delicious and satisfying and totally worth repeating.
