Dr. Litchfield diagnosed me with thyroid cancer in 2006. I didn't have insurance at the time and all my visits were cash pay in full. Each standard visit was $275.00. Months later I obtained insurance through my husband's employer. I continued to see Dr. Litchfields assistant. Rarely did I get to see Litchfield himself. One day I got a call from my insurance co telling me they were denying payment for a service because Litchfields office did not send out the bill correctly. It was an error on their part. They went on to tell me that I was not responsible for paying the bill as it was Litchfields error and they needed to correct it. Litchfields office was telling me the insurance co was simply refusing to pay and they demanded payment from me. Long story short, it was Litchfields error and nobody elses. Nothing more was said to me about it and I was left with the impression the matter was resolved. A month later I showed up to my appointment only to be told I was cancelled as a patient. When asked why, it was for non payment. When I asked why they didn't call to notify me, they said they did. Lies. I was in a panic as I was post op cancer. I paid it myself, $275.00, but I voiced my disgust. Maybe that's why they did it to me again the following appointment.....allowed me to drive clear across town only to be told upon arrival that I was cancelled as a patient because I was a no call no show. Which is not true. When I asked to speak to an officer manager, I was denied. I couldn't not believe it. Literally kicked to the curb without notice due to their inompetence with zero recourse. I would later find out through other reviews that this was common practice for them. Things do happen for a reason because I would eventually learn that Litchfield and his staff did nothing to educate me about my condition and such. Treatment was bare minimum with no education whatsoever. Would I recommend him? Never. I dont usually leave bad reviews, but I just don't have anything positive to say. It was a terrible experience to be post op cancer and left finding a new Dr.
