| - Hell yeah.
Went around 11:00 on a Monday afternoon for an early lunch. The place was dead but, started to fill up with business-type lunch people at noon. Try to go a little earlier or later if you want to beat the rush.
Service was great. Sodas come per can and likely aren't refillable. I'm sure this causes great strife among many patrons but seriously folks, if you're downing multiple cokes per sitting you need a support group, not a Yelp account.
I had the pork BBQ sandwich, with the coleslaw on it, as I'm not some sort of plebeian. The meat was FANTASTIC. It didn't need a single thing but, I added a bit of the wonderful, thin, vinegar-based sauce that's on the table. The thicker, Kansas City-style sauce was typical. Don't use that, though! You're in NC! With my sandwich I had Mac n Cheese (good!) and Brunswick stew (not good!).
Boyfriend had the same sandwich but, with potato salad and beans. Potato salad was good, very reminiscent of Publix's. The beans were good too but, not epic or anything.
We started with onion rings and finished with banana pudding. The onion rings were some of the best I have had. The banana pudding was recently assembled and pretty lousy. I guess no one makes the layered, traditional, Nilla-Box recipe anymore? BBQ places always seem to have half-assed banana pudding...
Anyway- very authentic shredded pork, good sides and nice hush puppies, too. Service is great BUT YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR SODA REFILLS so, keep this in mind if you're a coke-fiend.
