The smells are intoxicating as soon as you walk in the door. I have wandered through this store in an aromatic stupor only to find myself at the register with a baket full of deliciousness.
On one of my early visits, my in-laws were coming to down so I stopped in for the full antipasta platter supplies. Having only married into a 100% Italian family, I needed some guidance on what to buy ... the guys behind the deli counter, olive bar and bakery gave me perfect suggestions and my in-laws were in awe. They had not seen cappicola or proscuitto like this for years! We sent a nut roll home on the plane and sent torone out for Father's Day. The house cured rosemary ham was sublime and the fresh mozzarella was a dense, creamy delight. Every time I opened a new container or package, the whole family couldn't wait to see how it measured up to their memories - and Gallucci's delivered - and exceeded their expectations every time.
I stop in as often as I can and every time I find something new to enjoy. From fresh foods, to homemade frozen or imported cans and jars - it's an on-going battle to be able to lift the basket onto the counter at the end of my visits. The warmth and helpfulness of the owners and staff make Gallucci's one of my favorite places in my new city.
